SDGE Time Of Use Rates to Become Compulsory from March 31 2018

Time of Use Rate PlanSDGE will move all rate plans to Time of Use

SDGE will move all rate plans to Time of Use and have already changed the peak hours for TOU rates to 4pm-9pm. And

SDGE will start making TOU rates compulsory for all post solar applications after March 31 2018. Solar users now have the ability to choose between tiered and TOU rate plans after they go solar. In most Residential solar applications, this reduces the benefits of going solar as customers will lose the ability to get back the same rates from SDGE as they paid. Fortunately going solar in southern California has such great advantages, not being able to choose a tiered rate only slightly diminishes the overall benefits of going solar.

The deadline to be able to choose a tiered rate post solar is to have ‘Permission to Operate’ form from SDGE by March 30 2018.
